YOUR voice!
Just remember - it could come back next year (again).

2/20/2010:
On January 28, 2010, motorcyclists once again came together to defeat two anti motorcycle bills.
The first one was a noise bill that if enacted would have taken many motorcycles off the road. Though
not as onerous as the last two, Rep. Day sponsored, it carried with it serious financial and regulatory
burdens.
If the current law concerning noise was enforced much of the noise complaints would cease to exist. The
responsibility of every rider is to adhere to the law and stop installing pipes that are illegal and
purposely revving the engine thus giving people the reason to complain.
The current noise law is more than acceptable, I know, I wrote it.
The next is the proverbial helmet bill. I hope some day that these "safetycrats" will understand that
motorcyclists 18 and over are able to figure out good and bad attributes of a motorcycle helmet.
Though we believe that a helmet is a good piece of equipment, no one can or should take away our
right to make the decision of whether a person feels safer with or without a helmet.
Many thanks go out to all of you who took the day off to attend the hearing. A huge impact was made
on the House Transportation Committee members. The motorcyclists of N.H. should also thank those
motorcyclists from Ma., Maine, and Conn. for attending and supporting our cause. Please remember
that when the call goes out from a fellow organization, we support their cause also.
All of you should personally thank the members of the N.H. House Transportation Committee for their
unanimous support to kill both the noise bill and helmet bill. Make sure you write them a note, e-mail
or a phone call with thanks.
A special thanks goes out to Imre Saultzer from the AMA and Jeff Hennie from the MRF, who came to
give expert testimony on our behalf. These two organizations deserve our support and everyone should
be a member of both. I, myself am a life member of both the AMA and the MRF. Our NHMRO Officers,
Board Members, and general membership gave some compelling testimony.
During the hearing, it was stated by a gentleman from the NTSB that N.H.does not have any helmet law.
This statement is completely false. I wrote the law in 1977. The provision that requires a helmet use for
those under 18 is still in effect.
We must continue to be completely vigilant against those who would take away our freedom of choice or
wish to ban the sport of motorcycling. Only as a united voice can we continue to succeed. NHMRO has
offered the motorcyclists of N.H. that voice for 35 years.
NHMRO has defended your freedoms and promoted motorcycle safety. You must not become
complacent because of NHMRO's success record. NHMRO needs support of all motorcyclists in N.H..

All:
Once again New Hampshire leads the way on motorcycle rights. In a bipartisan fashion has favored
liberty and social justice over the nanny state way of doing business by killing for a second year in a row
the non-tampering style bill along with a mandatory helmet bill for all riders. However, these things do
not happen in a vacuum. We had the support of the New Hampshire motorcycling community along with
rider representatives from Massachusetts and Maine and the support of the AMA and MRF membership
as well as the testimony of Jeff Hennie MRF v/p government affairs and Imre Sautzer AMA government
relations.
We would like to thank each and every person who worked hard to accomplish this, you deserve a
standing ovation. Freedom only works when the people are activity involved in their government.
We welcome all riders to NH this summer to enjoy the freedom of our roads and the beauty of our state.
